Heather Locklear may have to answer for her alleged drunken attack on a paramedic -- and not just in criminal court -- because we've learned the EMT's hired a lawyer.

Sources connected to the case tell TMZ ... the EMT who Heather allegedly kicked during her most recent dustup late last month claims to have suffered serious injury during the ordeal. The EMT has hired personal injury lawyer Kevin Flahavan.

We broke the story ... Heather was arrested for 2 counts of misdemeanor battery upon an officer and emergency personnel while authorities tried separating her from family members. Law enforcement sources told us she punched a cop, and kicked an EMT.

We're told the EMT has been reassigned to desk duty as a result of injuries to her head and neck. Apparently the injuries make paramedic work all but impossible ... at least for now.

Our sources say the EMT not only wants money for medical bills and pain and suffering ... but also some cash for emotional abuse after allegedly being verbally abused by Heather.

LeBron James may not be the richest guy floating off the Amalfi Coast right now ... because Jimmy Iovine just showed up!

The music mogul was spotted on a yacht with LeBron on the 4th of July -- as the NBA star continues to celebrate his new $154 million Lakers contract.

A woman scaled the Statue of Liberty on the 4th of July in a move that can either be called the most patriotic thing ever or just plain stupid.

It forced park officials to evacuate the island of tourists Wednesday. It's unclear what the climber's intentions were but earlier in the day 7 people were arrested on the grounds by the United States Park Police after unrolling a banner that read "Abolish I.C.E."

The group was part of Rise and Resist NYC but denied any association to the woman later on social media, so it appears she acted alone.

Janet Jackson will make her headlining gig at Essence Festival despite the recent death of her father, Joe Jackson ... TMZ has learned.

There was fan concern that Janet would cancel her performance after Joe passed away last week. As we previously reported ... she and other family members were at his private funeral Monday in Glendale, California.

Sources close to Janet say she's currently en route to New Orleans for the fest where she's scheduled to perform Sunday. She has other dates lined up through August on her State of the World tour too, which she's also planning to fulfill.

Janet thanked her fans for their support during this hard time Wednesday in an Instagram video, where her kid also made a small cameo.
